Authentic Samurai Swords
Replica samurai swords can be good, decorative pieces. But, they’re just not the real thing. Authentic samurai swords are something else. They have a story behind them. How they were made, where, by whom. A unique ‘grain’ inside the blade making it a one off piece. The deadly product of a beautiful art which has been carried on for centuries against all odds. A sword made to the same deadly specifications and standard as the ones wielded by real samurai from a time gone by. The same can’t be said of something which as simply been cast and made by a machine.
All samurai swords which have been made by a qualified samurai swords smith, forged using folded metal and traditional practices, are classified as authentic samurai swords. That includes new samurai swords, not just old samurai swords.
If you are considering purchasing a samurai sword to use them on straw bales or in martial arts, you should stick to looking for authentic samurai swords, for reasons of functionality and safety. Cheap blades simply will blunt and break very easily. Machine made samurai swords were not intended to be used as weapons; merely decorative objects. Authentic samurai swords may well be far sharper than their machine made, cast counterparts, but because the blades of cast varieties can shatter into fragments – not something that will happen to a well made authentic samurai sword – replica samurai swords are arguably more dangerous.
Authentic samurai swords are also an investment and have an intrinsic value which will only grow with time. And, if used as a decoration in your home, they make an outstanding talking point.
